Head shell fix In making this repair I decided to use a "tacky" glue to re-assemble the pieces. This glue does not dry hard and I think it is similar to the HP-1 original glue. I noticed the original glue was still tacky after all these years when I took the HP-1 apart. The tacky glue will allow me to take the HP-1 apart again at some future time if I want to make additional changes. The picture below shows two types of tacky glue I have used. For this project I chose the Aleene's (because the bottle was newer).

The first step was to refurbish the head shell cap. That meant replacing the original driver protection cloth. This picture shows my new cloth layed out and the rubber attachment ring with a bead of tacky glue. The glue is white when it is applied.

When the tacky glue turns clear it is ready to use. This picture also shows the shell cap with tacky glue. That is where the ring will fit after I attach the driver cloth (the cloth ends up between the cap and the ring).
